theme
The theme of Divergent is to not think the way everyone else does, have your own thoughts and ideas. I found these five quotes that support this.
This supports the theme because Tris already knows that everyone wants her to think a certain way, but she doesn't want to. She is staying her own person and being Divergent even before the test.
This supports the theme because she tried to think like everyone else has trained her to, but she can't. It doesn't feel right, but that is just the way she's wired, and that's okay!
This supports the theme because Four is telling Tris that literally the leaders of the communities are actually making sure no one thinks out of the box so they can control them easier. But we shouldn't be controlled, its just human nature.
This is the part in the book when Tris accepts that she is different from everyone else and she thinks outside of normal standards. If you think like no one else, no one can stop you, and that is what Tris basically accepted. |
